Betsy Pecanins

BIOGRAFIA

Betsy was born in Yuma, Arizona. Her farther was American and her mother Catalan.
Mexico, where she has lived since 1977, is her third motherland: she has lived there throughout different stages of her life and it is her chosen homeland.  Both a singer and a composer, Betsy has had outstanding performances in all the important stages in Mexico and many different forums abroad.  Her back catalogue consists of 13 titles and 10 collaborations with different musicians.

Betsy Pecanins grew up within a large range of musical influence, among them Mexican ranchero folk song, bolero and blues, whose fusion is a basic source of her singing. 
Among her most outstanding performances are those with the Orquesta de Baja California (Baja California Orchestra) and the Filarmónica de la ciudad de México (Mexico City Philarmonic Orchestra) directed by, Eduardo García Barrios, Eduardo Diazmuñoz, Benjamín Juárez and Luis Herrera de la Fuente.  Among others, she has sung duets with Tania Libertad, Margie Bermejo, Cecilia Toussaint, Eugenia León, Amparo Ochoa, Guillermo Briseño and with blues fiddler Papa John Creach.

She interpreted the singing voice of Lucha Reyes in Arturo Ripstein¹s film La Reina de la Noche and participated with songs in the films Hasta Morir, Dos Crímenes, Cilantro y Perejil  and Asesino en Serio.

At an international level, she has performed in Havana, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Cannes, Lisbon, Los Angeles, Tucson, Yuma, New York, Washington, San Antonio and Miami.
Her artistic project, in which the fusion of Mexican ranchero  folk songs and boleros with blues which is particularly notorious in projects such as El Efecto Tequila, Tequila Azul y Batuta  and Qué Azul era mi Lara, is still growing and diversifying.  The originality of this work has earned her a very prominent place in today¹s music.  Her outstanding voice and presence continuously makes the already large number of her followers and fans increase.
